The Italytur
“Cooking School” Programs offer
both a 3-day intensive cooking
program taking place during the week, and a 2-day
program that takes place on weekends. In
both programs, chefs teach the art of Italian cuisine,
techniques and ingredients used in central Italy.
Cooking School programs take place
in two different beautiful locations, a little more
than an hour northeast of Rome.
Small groups of students work alongside professional
teachers with the highest of standards. Both locations
provide accommodations for the students.
One location is a luxurious villa in a panoramic
setting, with kitchens that are superbly arranged
with modern equipment.
The other is in a medieval town in a private home
that runs a B&B, where there are two large kitchens
with more than sufficient workspace for 8 students
working together.
Cooking Courses can be chosen from Basic, Intermediate
or Professional levels.
Chefs provide the highest of standards during lessons,
and give demonstrations using fine food products
from central Italy.
Specialists in the gastronomic field and better
known food producers are chosen to explain about
truffles, extra virgin olive oils, lentils, farro,
pork meats, chocolates, chestnuts and seasonal ingredients,
each being renowned specialty products of the area.
Learn how to choose these ingredients and use them
in fine cooking. All courses include sightseeing
and gastronomic tours to nearby sites in the area
of Central Italy.“Cooking School” courses
are given on a regular basis throughout the year
| (request our cooking
school calendar for this year) |
 |
and also can be specially planned for groups on
request.
|
All cooking courses
combine:
- Cooking lessons are given by
chefs including hands-on experiences and demonstrations
in fully equipped kitchens.
- Sightseeing is included in the
course, taking place in the surrounding area to
a few of these: medieval towns, olive oil and
ancient grain mills (where we visit and taste
the oil, farro and wheat products), a 10 century
abbey, historic library and Carolingian archives,
pre-Roman necropolis, Roman monuments and archeological
sites, frescoed buildings and a 10th century church
and castle.
- Visits to town food festivals
and town events are included in the program whenever
they coincide to the Cooking School course.
- Dining takes place in special
restaurants where the chef’s emphasis is
on cooking with care and special attention to
fresh quality foods in cooking.
- A translator and accompanying
bilingual person is with your group constantly
throughout your stay and while classes take place.
